This year, Virginia's Democratic led General Assembly made history! With the largest Democratic majority in a generation, lawmakers passed a $15 minimum wage, and established a state-run paid family and medical leave program offering up to 12 weeks at 80% wages. Democrats also passed an assault weapons ban, codified the right to contraception, expanded collective bargaining rights to state employees, established a regulated adult-use cannabis retail market, and advanced housing affordability and clean energy legislation to lower costs for working families.

Perhaps most significantly, Democrats completed a two-session constitutional process that will put three landmark amendments before Virginia voters in November: permanently enshrining reproductive freedom, codifying marriage equality, and automatically restoring voting rights to formerly incarcerated citizens. Democrats also passed immigration enforcement protections limiting warrantless ICE courthouse arrests and restricting state-federal enforcement cooperation, measures that reflect Virginia's values of dignity and due process.

After years of seeing this agenda vetoed by Governor Youngkin, Virginians can now see what's possible when Democrats hold the pen. These wins belong to every advocate, volunteer, and voter who refused to give up! Now, we must protect our Democratic majority to ensure these legislative wins continue!
